As she struggles not to cry.
She never meant to care this much,
And he can see it in her eyes.
He never meant to hurt her,
Never meant to cause her pain,
But she should have seen it coming,
Like the clouds before the rain.
She should have known hed do it,
And leave her in the dust.
He took her heart, he took her love,
Her innocence, her trust.
Her hopes and dreams he smashed to bits.
She should should have listened to her friends.
They told her he would knock her down
And leave her in the end.
The past was past, and though it hurt,
She looked him in the eye.
She got up off her knees and said
That she refused to cry.
He shook his head and smiled at her,
And told her she could leave.
Maliciously she laughed at him,
And said what she believed:
That since he lied and caused her hurt,
His ass was out the door.
She gathered up his books and clothes,
Then tossed them on the floor.
And before she could get the bleach,
His car was down the drive.
And when his lights had faded from view,
She sat down and she cried.
